C. Contribution to Science

1. My primary research interest is in the theory and practice of narrative ethics. I use mainly philosophical analyses on the issues on medical/dental application of narrative ethics. As an bioethicist and medical humanities researcher, I write essays and columns periodically to disseminate ideas of narrative ethics and its own readings and criticisms of literatures, movies, and other media.

2. I have also explored implications of new IT technologies in medicine. Especially I have participated in current debates about the influence on medicine of artificial intelligence and big data, and how we might reconsider medical ethics and medical education.

3. I have explored medical justice theories and the discussion over personal responsibilities. Personal responsibilities and social responsibilities are somewhat conflicted in the current bioethics and social debate. My conceptual and practical work asks how clinicians and policymakers might consider concerns that this conflict generates in medical practice and policies.
